Georgia State University

Culture and Sustainability

Dates

May 14 – 27, 2026

Georgia State University Bali Program is a 2-week undergraduate student trip focused on the intersection of Culture and Sustainability.

We ran a successful inaugural program in 2023 with 20 students, followed by another program in 2024 and 2025.

They will be joining us again in 2026!

Course Information

Participants of this program will be required to enroll in the following course(s):

  • PHIL 1010 – Critical Thinking
Given the theme of culture and sustainability, the critical thinking course offering will focus on the myriad of social, environmental and ethical issues facing the communities on the island
  • RELS 2001 – World Religions
Bali is perhaps most notable for its distinctive brand of Hinduism and its elaboration of ritual, architecture and the arts, which makes the religious studies course particularly worthwhile.
My experience with the Bali Institute has been absolutely incredible! Every day was filled with such a thoughtful and engaging agenda that I didn’t want it to end.
Experiencing the rich, authentic Balinese culture—which has remained beautifully preserved over the years—was truly unforgettable.
Our group leaders brought such great energy, which made the experience even better. I definitely plan on coming back to Bali in the future!
