Why Travel with Impact?

We created our 2-day IMPACT Tours specifically to give back to Bali in the wake of COVID-19, which has caused huge challenges for nearly every family on the island.

More than 2/3 of your program fee will go directly to amazing organizations who have made it their mission to revitalize Bali.

We worked directly with these organizations to curate unique experiences that showcase their inspiring work, allowing you to get to know Bali on a very different level while also supporting their vital initiatives.

Have fun, learn, and give back– all you have to do is sign up.

ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORTED BY THE PROGRAM

The organizations you will meet firsthand on our IMPACT Programs came to the aid of countless Indonesian families during the COVID-19 pandemic, and continue to offer support throughout the island’s slow re-opening. With more than 80% of Bali’s economy reliant on tourism, COVID-19 has taken an enormous toll on nearly every Balinese family. We are proud to support the work of these amazing organizations and thank you for joining us so that we can continue to do so.

MAI ORGANIC FARM
Mai Organic Farm is a community-led project that aims to preserve traditional and organic agricultural village life in Bali. It was founded when 9 community leaders came together with the passion to farm organic produce and create an educational playground to inspire children to eat healthy and care about the environment. After collecting fresh ingredients from around the farm, you’ll try your hand at making some delicious traditional Balinese and Indonesian dishes in a cooking class.
KIM WOMEN's CENTER
Visit KIM Women’s Center for dinner and a presentation from the founder! The organization was founded by a Balinese woman who, since her divorce almost 15 years ago, dreamed about creating a space where women can support each other and share skills to create job opportunities and achieve greater independence. They currently hold meetings for sharing and support, English lessons, yoga, computer classes, and also go on group outings to visit members’ homes, temples, and other areas in Bali. They also hold cooking and sewing classes, and run a catering service and sell bags and clothing as part of their fundraising.

BYE BYE PLASTIC BAGS

Bye Bye Plastic Bags was started by two girls in Bali, aged 10 and 12, in 2013. They were inspired to start an initiative to stop single-use plastic bags in Bali. They’ve made great strides since then, organizing an annual island-wide cleanup, creating educational materials for Balinese children about recycling and waste, and speaking at numerous events all over Indonesia. Though progress has been slow, they are beginning to see some real results in reducing plastic in Bali.

BALI SARI FOUNDATION

Have dinner at the Fair Warung Bale, a restaurant that gives 100% of their profits to the Bali Sari Foundation which provides free health services to Balinese people who cannot afford treatment and/or who live in remote areas of Bali where health care services are limited or nonexistent. The foundation has a mobile clinic that visits different areas of Bali once per month, providing free health checks and basic treatments to villagers around the island.

ABOUT BALI INSTITUTE

Bali Institute has spent more than 15 years curating amazing cultural experiences with local leaders, artists, organizations, and activists in Bali to make your time on the island not only unforgettable, but transformative.

Bringing a group to Bali with Bali Institute made for a deeply joyous experience.  The rich friendships that Bali Institute has created with wise leaders, local guides, healers and global visionaries helped each of us open our hearts.”

-Carrie, Program Participant

“Through the trust and mutual respect with Balinese leaders that [Bali Institute] has formed over years of exchanges, we were warmly received and felt the authenticity of the conversations. The emphasis on encountering Bali, rather than checking off bucket lists of “must see” or “must do”  was totally effective. I can’t imagine coming to Bali for the first time any other way.”

-Don, St. Mary’s College
